Director of games Joe Shely explains during a recent roundtable interview that the reimagining of sets in a manner that works with Diablo 4 properly wouldn't be likely to be available for launch until next year Diablo IV Gold, though the team is contemplating making them part of its live service.

"As we've been developing the game, we thought that we could create sets in a new way relative to what we've observed within Diablo 3. However, we'd like additional time before we could get sets into the game in a way to integrate well with the rest of Diablo 4, so you won't see sets at launch within the game." Shely explains. "We believe that sets are interesting, and we're looking to do them right - therefore we're looking over for our Live service."

"There's a staff legendary within the demo that changes the spell's fireball to triple fireball spells," former game director Luis Barriga told Polygon(opens in new tab) back in 2019. "The difference might be that, as you can imagine, a set right now on live Diablo 3 gives you bonuses which can be a million times more. I believe we're developing the game right now to be a bit more constrained to avoid becoming caught up in that increasing Power Curve."

If you're not familiar with the term "set," Set Items are basically sturdy pieces of gear that offer greater power when fully placed together. They're "set" as they're always offering the same bonus features, and as such they're part of an entire set. They first came into play by Diablo 2, though it was in Diablo 3 when they became extremely dominant. It is yet to be determined how they'll affect what happens to the Diablo 4 meta should they be released, but we have no doubt their influence on the evolving fashion scene will be greatly felt cheap Diablo 4 Gold.
